Breadbox, with his headquarters in Schiedam, was founded in 2001 and since active in liner shipping and chartering on the West African coast.

Breadbox offers dedicated shipping solutions for trade lanes to/from West Africa as well as coastal trade lanes. Breadbox is a young and dynamic shipping company and can be considered a "West Africa specialist" in providing creative and alternative shipping options to it's clients. Besides operating various liner services Breadbox is also operating a small but growing fleet of dry cargo vessels all with the same strong focus on the African trade lanes.

This shipping company has a network of agents dedicated to the handling of palletized, conventional and non containerized cargoes. In each port in West Africa they are represented by professionals with years of experience in the industry.

With yearly well over 150 operational calls in West African port (range Mauritania-Douala) Breadbox is looking to strengthen it's team in Dakar with an ambitious, result driven and dynamic OPERATIONS MANAGER (WEST AFRICA). His role is to supervise the loading and discharge operations of our vessels in West Africa (and occasional Europe) with the aim to improve productivity, reduce damages and shortages and to create a stronger 'presence' in the African ports. When active and present in the ports he will be primarily focused on the operations however should be open for commercial developments or business opportunities for the company as well.

Functieomschrijving / werkzaamheden

Part of the day to day responsibilities are:

  • Supervise the loading/discharge operations of our vessels in West Africa
  • Monitor productivity and manage and strive for improvements
  • Minimize shortages/damages by use of proper equipment and reporting systems.
  • Management local operational projects (warehousing)
  • All above responsibilities in close cooperation with the headoffice in Schiedam as well as Breadbox local agents/stevedores

Gewenste ervaring / opleiding / certificaten

The ideal Operations Manager (West Africa) has the following qualifications:

  • Several years working experience as vessel operator or supercargo in similar shipping activities
  • Preferably have 'West Africa experience'
  • Nautical background
  • Ambition to improve operational concepts and services to assist in development of the companies activities.
  • Have sense of urgency, initiative, ownership and competitive drive to get things done.
  • Proper knowledge of the English and French language
  • Willing and able to travel in West Africa
